How long can the SmartOne Solar be stored without exposure to the sun?
This depends greatly on the initial state of the batteries and the ambient temperature of the device. Also, if the device is to be stored for months at a time, it is strongly recommended to install the magnetic grommet to keep the SmartOne Solar in the OFF mode. If the magnetic grommet is installed and the batteries are fully charged then, at 20°C ambient temperature, the batteries will last for approximately 1 year.
How long will batteries in the SmartOne Solar device operate over its serviceable lifetime?
This depends greatly on how many messages per day are being reported, and the ambient temperature. If, at 20°C ambient temperature, with the SmartOne Solar reporting 2 messages per day, it is estimated that the batteries can last up to 8 years of serviceable life.
Can I replace the SmartOne Solar batteries?
The SmartOne Solar device is sealed and injected with a potting material for Intrinsic Safety certification, so it is not possible to replace the batteries.
How long can the SmartOne Solar device report location without any sunlight?
This depends greatly on the initial state of the batteries, how many messages per day are being reported, and the ambient temperature of the device. If the batteries are fully charged then, at 20°C ambient temperature, with the SmartOne Solar reporting 2 messages per day, it is estimated that the batteries can power the SmartOne Solar to report for approximately 6 months.
